It's September, and while winter may seem to be a long way off, I think we can all
agree that it will be here before we know it. There are many items to check off
of your proverbial checklist before the dead of winter truly hits, we've listed
a couple of the most important things to do below.
The first main item on this short list is to get your furnace checked BEFORE
you need the heat. This not only ensures that the heat will actually work when
you turn it on, but it also protects you and your family from serious safety
hazards. We've had countless customers over the years who have needed their
furnaces fixed (or replaced), but didn't know it until we inspected them. Quite
often the hazards revealed have been cracks or leaks that could have led to dangerous
levels of carbon monoxide in their home.
Secondly, you should check to see if your furnace filter needs to be replaced.
Changing the filter keeps the furnace from clogging, keeps it running more
efficiently and prevents it from allowing allergens and other harmful particles
to circulate throughout your home.
